Each of Thelonious Monk’s Prestige 10″ LPs are set to be released in a new box set from Craft Recordings, arriving in December to honour what would have been Monk’s Centenary.
As the Vinyl Factory reports: “Thelonious Monk’s The Complete Prestige 10-Inch LP Collection includes all five 10″s that the pianist recorded for Prestige: Thelonious Monk Trio: Thelonious (1952), Thelonious Monk Quintet Blows For LP, Featuring Sonny Rollins (1953), Thelonious Monk Quintet (1954), Thelonious Monk Plays (1954), and Sonny Rollins and Thelonious Monk (1954).”
“All of the albums have been restored and remastered from the original tapes by Joe Tarantino.
The collection also includes a booklet with liner notes written by the author of Thelonious Monk: The Life and Times of an American Original, Robin D. G. Kelley.”
