It’s hard to believe the watershed third album from punk pioneers Blondie turns 40 this month. Debbie Harry & co.’s influence on all manner of pop music, dance and postpunk seems to loom larger than ever.
Combining postpunk, power pop, disco and New York attitude, and featuring massive hits like “Heart of Glass” and “One Way or Another,” Parallel Lines took the sound of the American underground to the mainstream and permanently defined New Wave cool.
On Sunday September 16, Classic Album Sundays will present this masterpiece uninterrupted on vinyl and in hi-fi at The World Bar, with journalist, 2ser host and and lifelong Blondie fan Paris Groovescooter along as our special guest.
Stick around for the afterparty where we’ll clear away the chairs, get on the decks and spin new wave and disco and other on-theme sounds both new and old, giving our CAS family a chance to party up and get a little more loose than usual!
