As an elegy to the recent passing of Kevin Ayers, Classic Album Sundays and David E Barker will present Soft Machine’s first album, “The Soft Machine”. David E Barker is an integral figure in the indie record label arena as he has performed A&R and/or founded labels like Creation, Glass, Paperhouse and Seminal Twang. He is also an avid Kevin Ayers fan, having attended the legendary June 1, 1974 Kevin Ayers-John Cale-Eno-Nico show at London’s Rainbow Theatre. Barker will relay his insights and reflections about the man of whom he said, “Kevin Ayers was a true star who didn’t play the game.” And of course CAS’ Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is psyched to be able to show off her original copy with the rotating card disc album artwork. This original pressing will sound great on our audiophile hi-fi including a Rega Apheta MC Cartridge, Rega P9 Turntable, Klimax DSM with Preamp, Linn Klimax Solo Power Amps, Chord Signature Speaker Cable, Chord Cadenza interconnects, ISOL-8 Substation Integra Power Conditioner and Bowers & Wilkins 802 Diamond Loudspeakers. Listening guidelines apply.
