On Thursday October 13th 2017 we were joined in London by the legendary Peter Hook as we delve deep into his new book ‘Substance: Inside New Order’. Ahead of the event he gave us his Top 5 Albums Of All Time.

1. James Gang – Thirds

“Chrissie Hynde’s book reminded me how great an American rock band they were. Some great songs, wonderful guitar work and plaintive vocal tugs at the heartstrings.”

2. Nico – Chelsea Girls

“A perfect long player with a wonderful orchestral production by John Cale, melancholic and great melodies, you will be sad but happy.”

3. Ian Dury – New Boots and Panties

“A great English wordsmith and what a group. This album is quintessentially English and great for it.”

4. Sex Pistols – Never mind the bollocks / The Clash – London Calling. A draw

“Both albums summed up the summer of ’77 perfectly giving me the impetus to try and change the world, and lo and behold we did…4 times….Factory, The Hacienda, Joy Division and New Order.”

Thanks Lads;)

5. The Hacienda Classical Album

“A labour of love to put both Manchester and The Hacienda back on the map again. A great work.”
