The early ’80s found Tom Waits turning his back on the barfly boho-hobo troubadour image he had spent over a decade shticking. He, in turn, also found himself without a label. But with a new love and creative partner at his side–Kathleen Brennan–Waits took a hard left turn and headed straight for the ditch and into new creative territories. A turn that would come to define the second (and strangest) act of his career.

For the November session, Kegan Simons will be presenting: Tom Waits SWORDFISHTROMBONES. Join us while he explores Tom’s career, characters, influences, inspirations, and the flash of madness and creativity that birthed his 1980s classic album, Swordfishtrombones
