Okay West Londoners, now there is no excuse! CAS is coming to your neighborhood on Sunday, 14 October when we present the iconic Clash album “London Calling”. The event takes place at The Paradise and the hi-fi will be provided by our event hosts, Sonata Hi-Fi.
By 1979 Punk was becoming a caricature of itself. Posing for tourists with colourful mohicans on Camden Lock seemed more important than anything anti-establishment. The Sex Pistols had split up the year before and Sid Vicious had died of a herion overdose early in the year. So enter The Clash to release that very un-Punk of concepts – a virtuoso double-album. Arguably the greatest and most ambitious Punk-Rock record ever made, London Calling sees The Clash stepping up musically, lyrically and stylistically, incorporating Ska, Rockabilly, New Orleans Rn’B and even some Lounge Jazz. At 6 o’clock the lights go down, the volume goes up and we play the album from beginning to end on vinyl on our audiophile hi-fi.
