For the first time since the pandemic, Classic Album Sundays will resume our monthly Album Listening Sessions now being held at the KEF Music Gallery. The sessions are hosted by Colleen and other CAS hosts and will feature interviews with guest artists and producers allowing the music fan to take a deep dive into the back story behind a favourite album.
On Wednesday, the 18th September, Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy will be joined by Californian singer/songwriter/guitarist Ned Doheny to explore his 1976 landmark LP Hard Candy which features ‘A Love of Your Own’ (covered by Average White Band) and ‘Get It Up for Love’ (covered by Maxine Nightingale, Tata Vega and David Cassidy!).
Doheny is a staple of the Californian music scene and has worked with The Eagles’ Glen Frey and Don Henley, Linda Ronstadt, Jackson Browne, Mama Cass and J.D. Souther. He is gifted songwriter whose songs have been sought after by other artists including Chaka Khan who covered Doheny’s ‘What Cha’ Gonna Do For Me’ and recently much of his catalogue has been reissued on Be With Records.
After the interview Hard Candy will be played in its entirety on vinyl on an audiophile sound system featuring KEF Blade Two loudspeakers so that listeners can hear new details and nuances in the recording. The evening will conclude with a Q&A during which attendees will have the opportunity to ask Doheny their own questions. Join us to experience Hard Candy in a way you never have before.
