This year marks the 20thanniversary of classic album The Soft Bulletin by GRAMMY-winning band The Flaming Lips, who are celebrating the occasion by announcing a special, three day UK tour. The band’s ninth record, featuring singles ‘Waitin’ for a Superman’ and ‘Race for the Prize, received widespread critical acclaim with NME naming it their album of the year. It will be performed in its entirety to crowds in Edinburgh, Manchester and London, with the short tour concluding at the Brixton Academy on September 7th.

By the time the tour concludes, the band will have released their much anticipated fifteenth album, ‘King’s Mouth’. The new record will feature narration from Mick Jones, guitarist and co-founder of The Clash. The band’s follow-up release to 2017’s ‘Oczy Mlody’ is set for release on Record Store Day, April 13th. Initially, the release will be exclusive to independent record stores, with only 4,000 gold pressed vinyl copies being distributed. A more widely accessible release will hit the marketplace come July.

Reflecting the artistic proficiency of front man Wayne Coyne, the record will be accompanied by a book,King’s Mouth: Immerse Heap Trip Fantasy Experience, written and illustrated by Coyne himself. He explains, “The King’s Mouth immersive/child-like qualities are born from the same spark and womb as Flaming Lips live performances. The King’s Mouth adventure was made for humans of all sizes, ages, cultures, and religions”.
