On Wednesday, the 23rd April at 7pm, Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy will be joined by singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ed Harcourt who co-wrote and played on the late Marianne Faithfull’s 20th studio album Negative Capability which she described as her most honest album.
She revisited three songs from her past including her debut single ‘As Tears Go By’ and she felt the 2018 recording had more gravitas than her original hit. Along with Harcourt, Faithfull also collaborated with Nick Cave, Warren Ellis and Mark Lanegan on Negative Capability. A Mercury Prize nominee, Ed Harcourt has released 10 solo albums of his own and has also written for Paloma Faith and Sophie Ellis-Baxtor.
Tickets are free but limited and must be reserved in advance.
After the interview, Negative Capability will be played in its entirety on vinyl on an audiophile sound system featuring KEF loudspeakers so that listeners can hear new details and nuances in the recording. And guests will also be given the opportunity to ask Ed Harcourt their own questions during a Q&A. Join us to explore Marianne Faithfull’s Negative Capability.
