Classic Album Sundays will be hosting a room at this year’s New York Audio Show, held on April 12 through the 14th at the New York Palace Hotel. We will be offering attendees a fun and engaging experience unique to hi-fi conventions. CAS is presenting a fantastic line-up of events scheduled throughout the weekend and we also have a kick ass sound system!

Classic Album Sundays Listening sessions: Classic Album Sundays is the world’s most popular record club. In the CAS room at The New York Audio Show, founder Colleen “Cosmo” Murphy will host listening sessions featuring some of the coolest classic albums including Talking Heads’ “Remain in Light”, Kraftwerk’s “Autobahn”, Love’s “Forever Changes” and more. Attendees can drop by, learn about the history behind the featured album, turn off (their phone) and tune in (their ears and mind), and listen to an uninterrupted replay of the album on vinyl on a state-of-the-art hi-fi.

Michael Fremer: CAS’s favorite “Vinyl Guru” will be hosting daily workshops showcasing his knowledge and his special wit in the Classic Album Sundays room. Workshops will include a demonstration on how to set up a turntable (properly), how to read the mastering and matrix codes on the lead-out grooves of your favorite records and a demonstration comparing how and why various pressings of the same album can sound radically different from one another. Check out Michael’s site here.

Last Shop Standing screenings: Inspired by the book of the same name by Graham Jones, the film charts the rapid rise of record shops in the 1960′s / 70s and 80’s, the influence of the chart, the underhand deals, the demise of vinyl and rise of the CD as well as new technologies. Last Shop Standing’  features 20 record shop owners and music industry leaders such as Paul Weller, Johnny Marr, Norman Cook, Billy Bragg and Richard Hawley as they all tell us how the shops are a part of their own musical education, a place to cherish and discover new bands and new music.
