After four sold out events with Ned Doheny, The Blackbyrds’ Keith Killgo, Heaven 17’s Martyn Ware, and Alina Bzhezhinska on Dorothy Ashby, Classic Album Sundays returns to the KEF Music Gallery on Wednesday, the 22nd January to Sampha’s debut album Process. The session will be hosted by Raj Chaudhuri, co-founder and resident at one of London’s most reputable parties Livin’ Proof, as well as making up part of the Bubble Chamber crew. With the latter he hosts a monthly radio show on Balamii Radio, and as Raji Rags holds down a residency on NTS Radio.
His special guest is radio host and DJ Jamz Supernova who currently hosts a weekly show on BBC 6 Music and she also won an Aria Award for her BBC Radio 1Xtra programme. Jamz and Raj will explore why London musician Sampha Lahai Sisay’s Mercury Prize Winning debut resonates so strongly. After working with artists like the xx, SBTRKT, Jessie Ware and Lil Silva, Sampha released his first solo record in 2017, a sonically innovative and meditative album the reflected upon the loss of his mother to cancer.
After the interview Process will be played in its entirety on vinyl on an audiophile sound system featuring KEF loudspeakers so that listeners can hear new details and nuances in the recording. The evening will conclude with a Q&A during which attendees will have the opportunity to ask Jamz Supernova their own questions. Join us to experience Process in a way you never have before.
