As part of National Album Day celebrations, Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy will be joined by Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs to explore and tell the stories behind Saint Etienne’s debut album Foxbase Alpha on Monday, the 14th October at 7pm at The British Library. There are also online streaming tickets available and the link will be live for 48 hours.
When it was released in 1991 on Heavenly Recordings, Foxbase Alpha was emblematic of indie-dance music cross-pollination and the cinematic lounge and chill-out scene. Featuring singles ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’ and ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’, Foxbase Alpha was nominated for a Mercury Prize and over 30 years later is still beloved by fans. It’s a British classic and a natural choice for National Album Day celebrations.
After the interview, Foxbase Alpha will be played uninterrupted and in its entirety on a world class audiophile sound system featuring Danley loudspeakers so that listeners can experience the album in full detail.
