Celebrating it’s 45th anniversary The Rolling Stones’ Exile on Main St. is our album of the month for June.
A sprawling double album encompassing rock & roll, blues, soul, gospel and country, Exile was originally greeted with a mixed response but is now viewed as the defining moment in the Stones career. The music rattles like battle but also swings with clear purpose, as Keith Richards explained, “The Stones don’t have a home anymore – hence the Exile – but they can still keep it together.
