On Thursday, 24th July, Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy will be joined by Incognito band leader Jean-Paul ‘Bluey’ Maunick to celebrate the 30th anniversary of 100° and Rising. The band were pioneers of the acid jazz movement and this album released on Gilles Peterson’s Talking Loud label in 1995 had crossover appeal reaching #11 on the UK Albums Chart and #2 on the UK R&B Albums Chart. The album features some of the best British jazz and session players and included the singles ‘I Hear Your Name’ and ‘Everyday’. Tickets are free but limited.
After the interview, 100° and Rising will be played in its entirety on vinyl on an audiophile sound system featuring KEF loudspeakers so that listeners can hear new details and nuances in the recording. And guests will also be given the opportunity to ask Bluey their own questions during a Q&A. This event will give fans an exclusive insight into the creation of this album and its legacy.
