Classic Album Sundays is launching a campaign for International Women’s Day and we are so excited, we decided to run it for an entire week starting Monday, the 5th March, through to Sunday, the 11th March.
We are hosting an online celebration of classic albums created by women and have asked artists, collaborators and friends to send us their favourite album with a short blurb and a selfie and we will be sharing these on our website and social media platforms throughout the week. Check out Day One with Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy, Gilles Peterson, Nina Kraviz, DJ Yoda, Don Letts and more here.
We are also are asking you, dear listener, to post a photograph of yourself holding your favourite album by a female artist or a group featuring a woman/women with a blurb as to why you love it and tag us using the handles below. We will retweet and share our favourite posts.

“I was always fascinated by the all female group Alive! I was surprised that an all female group would come up with such a high powered ‘macho’ type sound… I was only around 18 at the time… Alive! Classic uplifting dance music!” #IWD2018 #AlbumsByWomen #ClassicAlbumSundays
International Women’s Day was founded in 1909 commemorating the movement for women’s rights and striving for social parity.
