CAS Portland presents David Bowie ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders from Mars’

With ‘The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars”, David Bowie turned a popular art form, pop music, into high performance art. Bowie lived and breathed the character of his own construction until it nearly consumed him. Contextually, Ziggy Stardust, The Stooges, Lou Reed and Roxy Music’s debut helped signal the end of the sixties and the hippy movement and marked the musical and stylistic transition into glam rock and punk.

At our CAS Portland session, join us to first listen to music that either inspired or was relevant to this LP such as Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground and Iggy Pop, followed by the story and contemporary relevance of the album. Then the lights go down, the volume goes up and we play the album from beginning to end on vinyl on our audiophile hi-fi. Listening guidelines apply.
